    The Colony is a reality television program.

    The first season was filmed in an industrial area bordering the Los Angeles River on the edge of downtown Los Angeles, and follows ten cast members in an environment that simulates life after a global catastrophe.[1] The series first aired on the Discovery Channel on July 21, 2009.[2] Filming began on February 28, and ran until April 28, 2009.
